[2012] Andy Stott - Luxury Problems

Following on from a pair of Extended Players released in 2011 ("Passed Me By" / "We Stay Together") Andy Stott returns to Modern Love with 'Luxury Problems', an 8 track album of new material recorded over the last 12 months. Five of the tracks on the album feature the voice of Alison Skidmore, Andy's onetime Piano teacher whom he hadnt seen since he was a teenager back in 1996. There was no grand gesture in mind, it just sort of happened - but after almost a year of studio work the result is really quite unlike anything you'll have heard from him before.

Tracklist:
01 Numb
02 Lost And Found
03 Sleepless
04 Hatch The Plan
05 Expecting
06 Luxury Problems
07 Up The Box
08 Leaving

[NEWS] Andy Stott - Numb

Here’s the first track to be unveiled from probably our most anticipated record left to be released in 2012, Andy Stott’s forthcoming Luxury Problems, out next month on Modern Love. The record has been described as falling “somewhere between Theo Parrish and Sade, but more fucked,” and gorgeous/ghostly album-opener “Numb” hints at a devastatingly beautiful (and relatively accessible) evolution of the imposing, future-primitive grind of his incredible Passed Me By / We Stay Together EPs from last year, thanks in part to the haunting vocals from Stott’s childhood piano teacher Alison Skidmore.

[2011] Andy Stott - We Stay Together [UPDATE]

'We Stay Together' is a brand new doublepack from Andy Stott, a companion piece of sorts to the radical inversions of the 'Passed Me By' EP released earlier this year. Its predecessor left many heads dazed upon impact - in the best possible sense - and these six tracks, produced in its wake, amp the pressure to throttling degrees.

Tracklist:
Submission 4:50
Posers 5:07
Bad Wires 7:21
We Stay Together (Part One) 6:36
Cherry Eye 7:32

[2011] Andy Stott - Passed Me By

Emerging from a 12 month hiatus, Andy Stott enters a compelling new phase of evolution on 'Passed Me By'. Besides marking his most substantial output since debut album 'Merciless', these seven tracks signify a renewed, yet introverted vitality to his sound, inverting the energy of his Juke and Technoid hardcore excursions into something more brooding and subtly visceral. They're strident and sensual yet stoically retentive, folding in a wider palette of influences from Kassem Mosse to Arthur Russell, to Actress and James Ferraro, but ironically sounding more Andy than ever.

Tracklist:
Signature 0:37
New Ground 6:21
North To South 4:51
Intermittent 3:26
Dark Details 6:04
Execution 5:15
Passed Me By 6:54
